MALPRACTICE AND LIABILITY INSURANCE
All nursing students must hold an active individual liability insurance policy prior to entering undergraduate or graduate externship experiences. Failure to provide a copy of the coverage at least 15 days before the start of the externship experience may result in the course being dropped from the student’s schedule. The policy must remain active until the official graduation date or program termination. Students can receive assistance from the clinical department to obtain individual liability insurance. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure coverage is sufficient and contains adequate incidental coverage. Students may complete an application and submit it in a timely fashion to the clinical department. Students will be billed by the University. Students who provide their own malpractice liability insurance must carry the appropriate coverage for programs as well as clinicals.
